Eamon's presentation was directed towards
the value proposition associated with intellectual property
(IP) in general, with a particular emphasis on patents, and then address in
more detail various patent and IP issues confronted by consulting engineers,
corporate engineers and engineering managers. Questions addressed include:
Why Patents Are Important; Who Owns the Invention; Nuances of IP Related
Discussion with Customers and/or Vendors; Nuances of IP Related Discussion
within Standards Groups; Job Transition Aspects (e.g., What You Can Take with
You, What You Must Leave behind); Competitive Realities and so on.

focused on the practical aspects of patent, trademark, trade secret, and
related IP issues from the perspective of a business owner or manager (e.g., securing, maintaining and using IP
intelligently; managing IP-related conversations with potential investors, partners,
suppliers, vendors and employees; identifying IP-related investments that are
worth making and so on).
